About Manas National Park

Manas National Park national park, Project Tiger reserve, and an elephant reserve in Assam, India. Located in the Himalayan foothills, it borders the Royal Manas National Park in Bhutan. The park is known for its rare and endangered endemic wildlife such as the Assam roofed turtle, hispid hare, golden langur and pygmy hog. Manas is also famous for its population of the wild water buffalo Because of its exceptional biodiversity, scenery, and variety of habitats, Manas National Park is a biosphere reserve and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Manas National Park was declared a sanctuary on 1 October 1928. Manas bio reserve was created in 1973. Prior to the declaration of the sanctuary, it was a reserved forest called Manas R.F. and North Kamrup R.F. It was used by the Cooch Behar royal family and Raja of Gauripur as a hunting reserve. It was declared a World Heritage Site in December 1985 by UNESCO.

Jeep safari

With Jeep Safari explore the dense forest of Manas National Park.

Jeep safari entry timings 06:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 02:00 PM to 03:00 PM. Safari Duration is approx. 3 Hours. The Safari is guided by trained guide cum driver and escorted by forest guards.

Two ranges for Jeep Safari are accessible from Eagle Nest Eco Retreat

1. Bansbari range 2. Bhuyanpara range.

(Bansbari Range is closed on every Tuesday. Other Rangers are open throughout the week.)

3. Bhutan Exploration:

Bhutan Safari is offered to Indian citizen only. The Safari goes through the Bansbari range core area of the National Park up-to Mathanguri in India and then entering Bhutan ending at Panbang. Returning through the same route. All Guest must carry Voter ID in original (birth certificate of children).

Elephant safari

Enjoy and explore the serene beauty of Manas National Park with the elephant safari.

Elephant Safari starts early morning at 06:00 AM and the second batch at 07:00 AM. The duration of the ride is approximately 1 Hour. Elephant Safari is subject to availability. Advance booking is required as these are booked on a first cum first serve basis.

River rafting

Experience the beauty with thrill of River Rafting in Manas National Park

The rafting starts at Mathanguri point and ends at the exit of the National Park in Beki River. The Beki River flows down from the foothills of Bhutan. Guest will be taken to the starting point in a gypsy along with guide, guard, boatman and all necessary rafting equipment. This experience is a must for all energetic and adventurous people. The entire process takes around 4hrs to 5 hrs.
